1890s Victorian Diamond Solitaire in Rose and White Gold, Old European Cut
SKU: RO.RB.1
An old European cut diamond sits at the center of this ring, its high crown and small table giving off the warm, candlelit sparkle characteristic of hand-faceted 19th-century stones rather than the sharper fire of modern cutting. Two round single cut diamonds flank the center stone, their simpler faceting a quieter echo of the same antique cutting tradition. The band itself combines rose and white gold: rose gold through the shank, white gold framing the diamonds; a two-tone construction typical of the period, when jewelers used the color contrast to make the diamonds read whiter against the warmer rose gold surrounding them. Small in scale and delicately built, this is a genuine Victorian-era engagement ring rather than a later reproduction in a similar style.
Excellent condition for its age; no visible wear or damage in photographs, consistent with careful handling over more than a century. Stamped 14K/18K with additional hallmark. Size 4.25. Weighs 1.8 grams total.
