43 Carat Cabochon Emerald and Diamond Platinum Ring, Circa 1950s

SKU: RO.JG.9

A single oval cabochon emerald dominates this ring, its deep, saturated green color reading as an almost continuous wall of color across the polished dome; the kind of density only a stone of real size can produce. Bezel-set in platinum, the emerald sits held but unobstructed, with no prongs breaking the eye's path across the surface. A ring of smaller diamonds, mixing single cut and old European cut stones, circles the base of the setting, adding a fine border of brilliance without competing with the emerald's scale. Hand engraving runs along the platinum shoulders, a detail visible up close that speaks to the level of finishing work standard on fine mid-century mountings. At 24mm in diameter, this is a substantial, room-commanding piece built around one exceptional stone rather than a cluster of smaller ones. Excellent condition; no visible chips or damage to the emerald.
