Thirty-eight jade beads run the full length of the strand in a steady 10mm diameter, each one a slightly different depth of olive-green so the necklace shifts in tone as it moves rather than reading as one flat color. Scattered dark mineral inclusions surface within individual beads, a natural marking of nephrite rather than a flaw, and give the strand a grounded, organic texture instead of a uniform polish. The beads are hand-knotted between each link, a construction choice that lets the strand drape with soft articulation at the neck rather than sitting rigid. A round 14K yellow gold clasp closes the necklace, its pierced motif adding a small point of brightness against the matte green field. Bead-and-clasp necklaces built this way were a steady presence in 1970s jewelry, prized then as now for pairing informally with both daytime and evening dress. Excellent vintage condition: no visible chips, cracking, or damage to the beads; clasp intact and functioning.
