Vintage 1970s Diamond Dome Ring, 80 Diamonds 3.25ct, 18K Yellow Gold and Platinum
SKU: RO.BB.132
Eighty diamonds cover the dome in a dense, unbroken sweep, each one small enough to read as texture rather than individual sparkle; the effect is closer to hammered light than a scattering of stones. A ribbon of polished 18K yellow gold winds across the pavé in a loose S-curve, splitting the white field into two distinct sections rather than framing it as a single border. That combination of platinum for the diamond-set dome, yellow gold for the sculptural ribbon; was a favored 1970s pairing, since platinum holds small pavé settings more securely than gold while gold's warmth keeps the piece from reading as cold or purely formal. The dome itself rises high off the finger, substantial enough to anchor the hand without a center stone to do the work.
Good vintage condition with a light surface scratching visible on the interior shank, consistent with age and wear; stones are secure with no visible damage. Stamped 18K. Size 6.25. Weighs 14.7 grams total.
