Retro 1970s Diamond and Ruby 18K Yellow Gold Ring, Ribbed Rope Design
SKU: RO.WJ.10
Dense, ribbed 18K yellow gold coils cover this ring's entire surface, the metal worked into tight horizontal ribbing that scatters light in a continuous shimmer rather than a flat polished sheen. At the top, the ribbing folds inward to form a raised knot, where three round brilliant diamonds and two round brilliant rubies sit in a compact diagonal cluster — the white of the diamonds breaking up the red so neither stone color reads as dominant. The diamonds are H color and SI1 clarity, bright and clean-faced; the rubies show a saturated, even red. Both sets of stones are raised in simple prong settings just above the rope-work, keeping the cluster as the visual focal point from any angle. This kind of heavy, tactile surface texture was a signature of 1970s gold jewelry, when designers favored dimensional, sculptural metalwork over smooth mounts. At 10 grams of solid 18K gold, the ring carries real weight and presence on the hand despite its modest stone carats. Stamped "VL" inside the shank. Excellent condition, no visible wear.
