Chaumet Citrine, Onyx and Diamond 18K Gold Earrings, Circa 1970s

SKU: EO.BB.50

Two cushion cabochon citrines, 25 carats total between the pair, dominate these Chaumet earrings, their smooth domed surfaces reading as pure, saturated color rather than faceted sparkle. A black onyx accent sits below each citrine, its flat matte black providing sharp contrast against the citrine's warm glow and the surrounding gold. Thirty-six round brilliant diamonds, F-G color and VS-1 clarity, totaling 2.25 carats, trace the border of each earring in a continuous line of fine, bright sparkle — a controlled counterpoint to the bold color-block design rather than the earring's main event. Set in 18K yellow gold and signed "Chaumet, 750" with French hallmarks, these are a documented example of the house's 1970s work, when large cabochon color stones paired with restrained diamond work defined Chaumet's modern, gold-forward aesthetic. At 1.5 inches long and 31.5 grams for the pair, these are substantial, statement-caliber earrings. Excellent condition, no visible wear.
