Ruby 18K Yellow Gold Ribbed Earclips by Kristoph Krähenmann

Ribbed satin gold radiates in two directions from a soft, off-center point, the brushed lines catching light in short parallel strokes rather than one continuous sweep. Where the ribbing changes direction, a triangular pocket of blackened gold opens at each tip of the ear clip, packed with pavé-set rubies whose dark red reads sharp against both the matte gold field and the black metal beneath it. The asymmetric, leaf-like outline keeps the eye moving along the ribbing rather than settling on a fixed center, a hand-fabrication choice typical of small studio goldsmiths working outside factory production. Thirty-six round brilliant rubies total 1 ct combined, natural and untreated in tone, set flush within the blackened triangles rather than raised. Kristoph Krähenmann trained in classical goldsmithing before opening his own studio, and this pair shows the contrast-finish technique — satin ribbing against oxidized black gold; that defines his contemporary work. Excellent condition: no visible wear, loose stones, or damage to the finish.
