Retro Angel Skin Coral & Diamond 14K Gold Convertible Earrings, 1970s
SKU: EO.OA.8
Natural angel skin coral anchors these convertible dangle earrings in two forms; round cabochons at the ear and elongated pear drops below; their soft pink hue set against twisted ropes of 14K yellow and white gold. One hundred twenty-eight diamonds, two carats total in G-H color and VS2 clarity, cluster around each coral element and trace the twisted rope motif down the drop, catching light continuously against the coral's matte, satin-smooth surface. The bold, sculptural use of interlocking gold links reflects 1970s design at its most tactile; jewelers of the era favored exactly this kind of substantial, three-dimensional goldwork paired with organic materials like coral. A removable lower portion lets the earrings convert between full dangles and simple coral studs, doubling their use for day or evening. At 32 grams for the pair and 2.25 inches long fully assembled, they carry real presence on the ear. Condition is excellent: the gold retains a bright, well-kept finish, the coral shows even, consistent color across all four portions, and the diamond pavé is secure with no visible losses.
