Mid-Century Cabochon Emerald and Diamond Bombé Ring in 14K White Gold, Circa 1950s

A single oval cabochon commands this ring; a 30-carat emerald polished to a smooth, high dome rather than faceted, letting its color pool across one unbroken surface. Diagonal rows of pavé diamonds wrap the stone in a wide bombé setting, 252 single cut diamonds set edge to edge in tightly ribbed bands that catch light in sharp, repeating lines against the emerald's glassy calm. The scale is substantial by design; a 20 x 18mm stone set high off the finger, with the diamond pavé doing the work of framing rather than competing with the centerpiece. This kind of oversized cabochon-and-pavé bombé silhouette was a signature of 1950s Mid-Century jewelry, when jewelers favored bold single stones over multi-stone clusters.
