Emerald and Diamond Dogwood Flower Earclips, circa 1960s
SKU: EO.BA.5
A pair of 1960s earclips in 18K yellow gold, shaped as a four-petal dogwood flower with each petal finished in fine ribbed veining that fans outward from the center. A cluster of round emeralds fills the center, with four diamonds set at the compass points around the cluster, so the stones read as the flower's own center rather than an applied decoration.
The dogwood motif was a popular naturalistic subject in mid-century gold jewelry, and the ribbed, veined petal treatment was a common way to give a flat gold surface real dimension. European hallmarks on the reverse.
Measuring 28mm, the earrings carry 0.80ct of emeralds and 0.40ct of diamonds (F-G, VS1) at 19 grams for the pair. Fitted with clip backs.
