Vintage 1960s Citrine and Diamond 18K Gold and Platinum Starburst Ring, 7ct Citrine
SKU: RO.BB.62
Twenty-five millimeters of ribbed gold radiate outward from a single 7-carat citrine, each ray textured with fine vertical striations that catch light differently depending on the angle; up close it reads as motion, like a held breath of a starburst. The citrine itself is a deep, orangey amber rather than pale lemon, a color depth that only shows in stones this size. Diamonds, a mix of round brilliants and baguettes set in platinum, punctuate the gold rays at irregular intervals rather than a uniform ring, so the sparkle reads as scattered light rather than a continuous border. Pairing platinum diamond-work with a bold yellow gold sculptural body was a hallmark of 1960s design, when jewelers began treating gold itself as a textured material rather than just a setting. At 25mm across, this sits high and wide on the hand, built to be seen.
Excellent vintage condition; no visible wear, damage, or loose stones in photographs. Stamped 18K, Plat. Size 6. Weighs 19.0 grams total.
