Art Deco Carved Burmese Ruby and Diamond Platinum Convertible Pendant, Circa 1920s

SKU: PEO.SK.6

Four ruby carvings, cut in a loose leaf pattern, sit low in an openwork platinum frame while a wide scrolling ribbon motif sweeps above and around them; the ribbon built entirely from pavé round diamonds with baguette-cut diamonds marking each fold. The rubies read dark and saturated against all that white brilliance, deliberately restrained in cut so the color carries the piece rather than faceted sparkle. GIA has confirmed the four stones as natural Burmese ruby with no indications of heating; origin and treatment status that place this well above typical Art Deco ruby work, most of which relied on heated or unattributed material.
The piece converts between a brooch and a pendant, a common Art Deco device that let a single jewel serve double duty across day and evening wear; a pin mechanism sits behind the upper scrollwork, and the platinum chain detaches for wear as a stand-alone brooch.
Wear consistent with age and use.
Platinum, 20.27 grams. Four carved leaf-motif cabochon rubies, natural, Burmese origin, no heat, approximately 4 total carats (GIA Report 6214920945). 160 round brilliant and single-cut diamonds, approximately 4 total carats, G-H-I color, VS2 clarity. Stamped Italy, 950. Circa 1920s. Converts from pendant to brooch. 16-inch platinum chain.
