Retro Leaf Motif Diamond 18K Rose and Yellow Gold Earrings, Circa 1940s
SKU: EO.MA.1
Layered gold leaves fan out in rose and yellow tones, their surfaces hand-textured with fine parallel lines that mimic the veining of a real leaf and catch light unevenly across the ridges. Above each cluster, a slimmer diamond-set leaf in white gold rises at an angle, six round diamonds pavé-set point to point so the sparkle reads as a vein of light cut through the warmer gold below. Twenty-six diamonds total across the pair, concentrated in these upper accents rather than spread through the gold leaves themselves, keeping the stones a bright counterpoint to the sculptural metalwork rather than its focus. The sculptural, high-relief gold leaf became a signature motif of Retro-era jewelry in the 1940s, when designers moved away from platinum and white metal toward bold, tactile gold forms. Posts paired with omega backs keep the earring secure and sitting close to the ear despite its size. The diamonds total approximately 1.10 ct., G-H color and VS-1 clarity, set in 18K rose and yellow gold measuring 35 millimeters long and weighing 25 grams, with European hallmarks.
