Retro 1940s Two-Tone Gold Diamond Rope Dome Ring, 18K Rose and Yellow Gold
SKU: RO.BB.28
A tight coil of 18K rope-twist gold forms the dome, its texture catching light in small, repeated glints rather than one smooth reflection; the kind of hand-worked detail that took real bench time before mass production made it rare. A single old European cut diamond sits bezel-set at the center, its faceting softer and less symmetrical than a modern round brilliant, a genuine mark of age rather than a flaw. Two smaller single-cut diamonds flank it, each held in its own scrolled yellow gold setting that curls away from the rope like a small wave. The two-tone contrast, rose gold rope against yellow gold scrollwork, was a hallmark of 1940s retro jewelry, when wartime platinum shortages pushed designers toward bold gold combinations and sculptural volume instead. The dome rises high and rounded, substantial on the hand without being heavy.
Excellent vintage condition; no visible wear, damage, or loose stones in photographs. Size 7. Weighs 10.0 grams total.
