Art Deco Platinum Sapphire and Diamond Pendant Necklace, 1.80 ct Marquise Sapphire

SKU: PO.MP.1

A marquise-cut sapphire, 1.80 carats and deep blue, sits bezel-set at the center of this Art Deco pendant, its elongated shape echoed by the rectangular platinum frame surrounding it. Forty old European and single cut diamonds, totaling 1.55 carats in H-I color and SI-1 clarity, trace the frame's architecture in a symmetrical, geometric pattern, finished with fine milgrain edging along every setting. The open, pierced platinum work lets light pass through the pendant rather than sitting as a solid plaque, a hallmark of 1920s Deco design. The pendant hangs from its original fine platinum chain, closing with a 14K white gold marquise-shaped box clasp that echoes the pendant's silhouette and carries its own small sapphire and diamond accents; a detail most similar pieces lose over time. At 18 inches and 10 grams, this is a wearable, well-preserved example of period craftsmanship. Excellent condition, no visible wear.
