White Jadeite Jade 18K Gold Earclips by Gump's, Circa 1970s
SKU: EO.HA.24
A single oval cabochon of white jadeite sits at the center of each earring, its surface polished to a soft, even glow rather than a hard sparkle; jade reflects light in a diffuse wash across the whole stone instead of throwing it back from individual facets. Rings of fluted 18K gold step out around each cabochon in tight concentric bands, the ridges catching light in thin bright lines that contrast with the jade's smooth, matte luminosity at the center. That fluted, tiered border is doing real work: it frames a plain oval stone with enough visual structure that the earring reads as sculptural rather than simple. Gump's of San Francisco built its name on sourcing natural, untreated jade rather than the dyed or treated material common elsewhere in the trade, and a piece stamped "Gumps" carries that reputation with it. Omega clip backs in 14K gold. Excellent condition; no visible chips, scratches, or damage to the jade.
