Star Ruby and Diamond Ring in 18K Yellow Gold, GIA-Certified Kenyan Origin
SKU: RO.JG.4
A 5-carat star ruby anchors this ring, cut as an oval cabochon and bezel-set so the smooth dome sits flush and protected within the gold rather than raised on prongs; a setting choice built to showcase the stone's asterism without risking the edge. Twelve pavé-set round brilliant diamonds ring the ruby in a tight halo, their faceted sparkle a deliberate contrast to the ruby's opaque, glowing surface. The mounting itself carries the real craftsmanship: heavily textured, hand-engraved gold gives the piece a tactile, sculptural surface rather than a smooth polished finish, adding bulk and presence well beyond what the stone alone would carry. That combination of substantial handwork and a bold cabochon centerpiece is characteristic of 1960s gold jewelry, when scale and surface texture were as central to a ring's identity as the gemstone itself.
Excellent vintage condition; no visible wear, damage, or loose stones in photographs. Size 7.25. Weighs 17 grams total.
