Mid-Century Sapphire, Carved Ruby & Diamond Platinum Ring, 18ct, 1950s

SKU: RO.CA.10

An 18 carat oval cabochon sapphire commands the center of this mid-century ring, its deep, saturated blue and smooth domed surface set high within a border of ten carved cabochon rubies; hand-worked into leaf and fruit forms in the tutti-frutti style popularized in the early 20th century and revived through the 1950s. Fourteen single round and square-cut diamonds, 0.45 carats total in H color and VS2 clarity, punctuate the ruby border at intervals, their faceted sparkle breaking up the two dominant colors with flashes of white. A single rose gold leaf accents the platinum mount, a deliberate two-metal touch that adds warmth against the cool white platinum and the jewel-toned stones. At 15 grams and sized for a 7.5, the ring sits with genuine presence on the hand. Condition is excellent for its age: the metal retains a bright, well-kept finish, and all stones, sapphire, carved rubies, and diamonds alike; are secure with no visible chips or losses.
