Mid-Century Diamond Wreath Pendant Brooch, Platinum, 5.75 ct, Circa 1950s
SKU: PO.HA.1
A circular wreath of platinum, set edge to edge with round brilliant and baguette diamonds, forms the body of this mid-century pendant, finished at the top in a dimensional bow motif rendered entirely in channel-set baguettes. A pear-shaped diamond weighing 0.75 carats dangles from the bow into the open center of the wreath, catching light independently of the surrounding pavé as it moves. In total, 75 diamonds combine for 5.75 carats, in G-H-I color and VS-2 clarity; bright, clean stones with no visible inclusion at a glance. The wreath-and-bow motif and mix of baguette and round cuts are signature elements of 1950s platinum jewelry, when pieces were built to convert between brooch and pendant for versatility across an evening's wear. This one retains its platinum chain, stamped "950PT, Italy"; likely Italian manufacture, consistent with the fine, dense stone-setting throughout. At 19.4 grams and 1.5 inches in diameter, it has real substance without excess bulk. Excellent, pristine condition.
