David Webb Stepped Fan Motif 18K Gold Earclips, circa 1970s
SKU: E.OK.5
A pair of 1970s earclips by David Webb, built as a stepped fan of graduated ribs that narrow to a pointed hexagonal cap. Alternating bands of smooth polished gold and rope-twisted gold run along the fan, so the eye moves between plain reflective surfaces and textured, coiled edges as it travels up each earring.
The stepped-fan silhouette paired with rope-twist detailing is characteristic of Webb's 1970s gold work, using contrasting finishes rather than gemstones to create visual rhythm. Stamped "WEBB, 18K" on the reverse.
Measuring 28mm, the earrings have a compact, architectural presence. Fitted with clip backs.
