French 1960s Diamond Sea Urchin Cluster Ring, 18K Yellow Gold Wire Spike Design
SKU: RO.HA.23
Nineteen round brilliant diamonds cluster in an asymmetric cascade across one shoulder of this ring, set flush against a field of individually wire-formed gold spikes that radiate outward like a sea urchin's spines. Each spike is shaped and set by hand rather than cast as a single textured surface, giving the piece real dimension and movement — the gold catches light differently depending on the angle, shifting between matte shadow and bright glint across the spiked surface. The diamonds, F-G color and VS1 clarity, sit in a tight cluster rather than scattered evenly, concentrating the sparkle against the more muted gold texture around it. French hallmarks confirm its origin; this bold, sculptural, nature-inspired goldwork was a signature style of ambitious 1960s jewelry design, when houses on both sides of the Atlantic experimented with organic, textural forms as a departure from smoother mid-century lines.
Excellent vintage condition; no visible wear, damage, or loose stones in photographs. French hallmarks. Size 8. Weighs 11.5 grams total.
