Diamond and Emerald Starburst Ring, 14K Gold, Circa 1970s

Thin rays of textured 14K gold radiate outward from a central point in a dense sunburst pattern, each ray finished with a fine ribbed texture that catches light differently depending on the angle. Diamonds and emeralds punctuate the rays at irregular intervals, alternating white and green sparkle across the starburst rather than following a fixed symmetrical pattern. Six round brilliant diamonds and six round emeralds combine for a lively, scattered sparkle that reads as spontaneous rather than engineered. The radiating, textured starburst form was a signature motif of 1970s jewelry design, prized for the way its many individual rays caught light from every angle. At 25 millimeters in diameter, the ring has real presence and movement on the hand. The diamonds total approximately 0.40 ct., G color and VS-1 clarity, and the emeralds total approximately 0.50 ct., set in 14K yellow gold, sized 6.25 and weighing 18 grams.
