Mid-Century Gray Star Sapphire Ring in 14K White Gold, Circa 1950s

SKU: RO.KR.OG

A gray star sapphire sits bezel-set at the center of this ring, its cool, milky surface catching light differently depending on the angle; a quality unique to star corundum, where fine internal needles scatter light into a six-rayed star rather than the sharp facet-sparkle of a cut stone. Two straight baguette diamonds flank the sapphire, their clean rectangular lines a graphic contrast to the cabochon's soft round dome. The palette here is deliberately understated: white gold, gray sapphire, and colorless diamonds together read as quiet and cool rather than bold, a different register from the blue and ruby star stones more commonly seen from the same 1950s period. The bezel setting keeps the stone protected and flush, practical for a piece meant to be worn rather than just displayed.
Excellent vintage condition; no visible wear, damage, or loose stones in photographs. Size 7. Weighs 6 grams total.
