Double-Strand Cultured Pearl Necklace with Smoky Quartz Clasp, Circa 1970s

SKU: NO.EB.8

Two strands of cream-colored cultured pearls fall in soft, even rows, each of the 116 pearls holding a smooth, warm luster that catches light without any hard glare. The pearls graduate almost imperceptibly in size, keeping the strand reading as one continuous surface rather than a string of individual beads. At the center, a large oval smoky quartz breaks the pattern with a completely different kind of light: faceted, transparent, and the color of strong tea held up to a window. A close-set border of seed pearls frames the stone, echoing the strands on either side so the clasp reads as part of the necklace rather than a hardware afterthought. The 24-inch length is notably generous for a double-strand pearl necklace of this era, when most were cut to sit close at the collarbone; this one falls low enough to layer or wear alone with real presence. The pearls show good, consistent luster with no visible chips or peeling, and the clasp opens and closes securely. The clasp is 14K yellow gold, and the necklace weighs 121.09 grams in total.
