Edwardian Old European Cut Diamond Platinum Ring, 1.85ct, Circa 1910
SKU: RO.RA.18
A 1.85 carat old European cut diamond centers this Edwardian ring, its warm J color and softly included SI2 clarity giving the stone gentle, candlelit brilliance rather than icy white sparkle — a hallmark of diamonds cut before modern faceting standards prioritized colorless material above all else. The stone rises from an openwork basket mount, a design that lets light enter and exit from beneath the diamond as well as above it, amplifying its natural fire. Diamond accents, 0.20 carats total, trace the mount's edges, adding subtle sparkle without drawing focus from the center stone. The platinum setting is unmarked, consistent with jewelry from this period, when platinum hallmarking had not yet become standard practice. At 3.3 grams and sized for a 5, the ring wears with the light, refined presence typical of Edwardian design. Condition is excellent for its age: the platinum retains a bright, well-kept finish, and the center diamond is secure with no visible chips or damage.
