Vintage 18K Gold Black Pearl and Garnet Dangle Earrings, Circa 1960s
SKU: EO.SK.20
A round garnet sits bezel-set at the top of each earring, ringed in fine granulated gold beading that catches light in small, even points rather than a single polished gleam. Below, a cluster of coiled gold wire loops connects to a tapered gold cap, also finished in granulation, that crowns a 10mm black pearl. The pearl's deep, dark luster shifts subtly toward green and blue in direct light, a natural iridescence that reads as substance rather than plain black. The garnets, bezel-set and totaling 1.50 ct, provide a warm point of color against the yellow gold, while the pearls carry the visual weight at the base of each drop. This kind of dense granulation and coiled wirework is characteristic of 1960s gold jewelry, when goldsmiths favored intricate, textured surface detail over smooth castings. At 35mm long and 16 grams for the pair, these earrings have real presence without being heavy on the ear. Excellent condition, no visible wear.
