Convertible Twisted Gold Door Knocker Earclips, circa 1970s

A pair of 1970s door knocker earclips in 18K yellow gold, built in two parts: a diagonally twisted, swirl-textured stud at the top, and a smooth double-banded hoop below that swings from a fluted junction. The twist in the top section catches light in a spiral rather than straight lines, while the plain hoop below keeps the lower half quiet by comparison.

The bottom hoop detaches, so the earrings convert from a compact 28mm stud to a full 54mm drop ; a practical design common in 1970s gold work, letting one pair move from day to evening.

At 57.6 grams for the pair, these carry real substance. Fitted with clip backs.
