A 7.33-carat cushion brilliant-cut yellow sapphire commands the center of this ring, its golden color certified by GIA and its cut chosen to maximize brilliance across a large transparent surface. Seven carved cabochon blue sapphires, cut in a leaf motif, radiate outward from the center stone, their smooth carved surfaces a deliberate textural contrast to the sapphire's faceted sparkle. Eight round emeralds punctuate the design at intervals, adding small bursts of green against the blue and gold, while round and single cut diamond accents trace the leaf edges in fine white sparkle. The mounting itself moves between 18K yellow and white gold, a two-tone construction that lets each gem's color read against the metal best suited to it. Signed by Julius Cohen, whose New York workshop built a reputation through the 1960s and 70s for exactly this kind of exuberant, color-driven design; bold, jewel-toned cocktail rings meant to be seen across a room.
