Mauboussin Sapphire and Diamond Platinum Dome Ring, Circa 1950s
SKU: RO.EX.16
A vibrant oval sapphire commands the center of this dome-shaped ring, its deep, saturated blue set off by a dense field of diamonds cut in four different styles; old European, baguette, single, and square; that together read as one continuous, textured surface of brilliance rather than a simple halo. The mixed-cut approach is deliberate: baguettes catch light in clean geometric lines while the rounder cuts scatter it, giving the dome real depth and movement as it catches light from different angles. Platinum holds all 78 stones in a dense, architectural arrangement typical of the finest mid-century French work, where craftsmanship density was itself a mark of luxury. Stamped with French hallmarks, including the dog's head platinum mark, and signed "Mauboussin Paris"; confirming both the metal content and the maker in one inscription. Excellent condition; no visible chips, losses, or replaced stones.
