Diamond and Ruby Bead Tassle Necklace by Tiffany & Co., Art Deco, Circa 1935
SKU: NO.KB.7
Three strands of graduated ruby beads fall from each shoulder, catching light unevenly across their rounded, semi-transparent surfaces; a deliberate contrast to the faceted diamond geometry above. At each side, an angular diamond plaque steps down in tiers of calibré and old European-cut stones, the platinum barely visible beneath the density of the setting. The two sides converge at a diamond and ruby clasp built from stacked rectangular bars, from which a single ruby bead drops to a diamond-domed tassel cap, its surface carved in a woven lattice pattern before releasing into a full fringe of fine ruby beads. The architectural stepping of the diamond plaques against the soft, rounded ruby beads is characteristic of Tiffany's Art Deco output, which paired hard geometric line work with organic materials to soften the era's angularity. Signed Tiffany & Co. with a French assay mark, accompanied by the original Tiffany box and a GIA Ruby Origin Report confirming natural Burmese origin with no indications of heating. The piece shows no visible wear, tarnish, or loose stones. Measuring 20.5 inches long, weighing 135.5 grams total, set with old European and old mine cut diamonds totaling 20.32 carats (I-J-K color, VS1-SI1 clarity) and Burmese rubies, including 11 oval brilliant cut rubies and a ruby bead fringe tassel.
