Henry Dunay Textured Gold Horseshoe Ear Clips in 18K, circa 1970s
SKU: E.CH.1
A bold pair of ear clips by Henry Dunay, formed as open horseshoes that curve around and back on themselves, each finished in a fine directional brushed texture that runs the length of the curve. The matte surface is set off by a smooth, high-polish fluted cap at the top, so the two finishes meet at the ear and the contrast reads immediately.
Dunay built his reputation on the physical manipulation of gold with hammering, brushing, and texturing surfaces by hand rather than relying on stones for effect. This pair is a clear example: no gemstones anywhere, the entire design carried by the shift between brushed and polished metal and by the weight of the form itself.
At 32 millimeters and 32.6 grams the pair sits high and open on the lobe, substantial without dangling. Fitted with hinged clip backs and posts. Signed Dunay, stamped 18K with copyright mark and 750.
