Retro Citrine & Diamond 14K Gold Brooch, 20ct, Circa 1940s

SKU: BRO.HA.8

A square-cut citrine, 14.50 carats, anchors this Retro brooch, its fiery orange-amber tone the hallmark of fine madeira citrine — the deepest, most saturated grade of the stone. Two smaller rectangular citrines, 5.50 carats combined, flank the center in matching cut and color, extending the warm glow across the full width of the piece. Eighteen round brilliant diamonds, 1.05 carats total in H-I color and SI1 clarity, are set into pierced white gold panels that fan outward from the central stones, their bright white sparkle cutting sharply against the citrines' warm hue and the surrounding yellow gold. The two-tone gold construction; curved yellow gold ribbons framing angular white gold diamond panels which is characteristic of the sculptural, architectural style that defined 1940s Retro jewelry design. At 2 x 1 inches and 21 grams, this reads as a substantial, statement-making brooch. Condition is excellent: the gold retains a bright, well-kept finish, and all stones are secure with no visible chips or losses.
