Art Deco Platinum Diamond and Sapphire Filigree Brooch, Circa 1930s
SKU: BRO.NB.1
An old European cut diamond, 1.05 carats in K-L color and SI clarity, anchors the center of this Art Deco brooch, its open culet and hand-cut facets giving off the softer, warmer sparkle typical of period diamonds. Twenty French cut sapphires, totaling 1.00 carat, channel-set in a line flanking the center stone, provide the bold color contrast Art Deco jewelers favored against platinum's cool white. An additional 1.50 carats of single cut and old European cut diamonds trace the brooch's pierced filigree framework, their fine, dense setting typical of the era's hand-fabricated metalwork. The platinum mount itself is worked in openwork scrollwork, giving the piece visual lightness despite its substantial gem content. At 70mm long and 10 grams, this is a statement-caliber brooch with real period character. Excellent condition, no visible wear.
