Art Deco Diamond Platinum Filigree Ring, Synthetic Sapphire Accents, Circa 1920s
SKU: RO.EX.7
Three old European cut diamonds step down the center of this ring in a vertical row, each one bezel-set so the metal frames the stone in an unbroken circle of light rather than letting prongs interrupt it. Pierced platinum scrollwork surrounds them on all sides, thin enough that light passes straight through the open sections rather than reflecting off a solid surface. Smaller round diamonds fill the scrollwork at intervals, and eight French cut synthetic sapphires run down both edges in narrow rectangular strips, giving the vertical line a hard blue border against all that platinum openwork. The ring sits tall and narrow on the finger rather than flat, a shape Art Deco jewelers favored because it let the eye travel the full length of the design in one glance. Every diamond sits close against its neighbors, so the piece reads as a continuous line of brilliance from top to bottom rather than a scatter of individual points. Stamped "PT" on the interior of the shank. Excellent condition; no visible chips, losses, or replaced stones.
