Art Deco Diamond Bombe Ring in Platinum, Old European Cut, Circa 1920s
SKU: RO.EX.9
A bezel-set old European cut diamond weighing 1.19 carats sits at the center of this Art Deco bombe ring, its open culet and softer faceting throwing warmer, more scattered light than a modern brilliant cut. Six additional old European cut diamonds, totaling 0.75 carats, ring the center stone in individual bezel settings, each one a genuine period stone rather than pavé filler. The platinum mount rises into a full bombe dome, its surface pierced and faceted in the geometric, architectural patterning that defines 1920s Art Deco design; a deliberate contrast to the rounded diamonds it holds. I color and SI2 clarity in the center stone, H-I and SI in the surrounding six, keep the ring bright without chasing absolute colorlessness, typical of the era's best work. This is a substantial ring at 8 grams of solid platinum, built with the weight and presence Art Deco bombe styles were known for. Wear consistent with age and use, with no losses to the diamonds or setting.
