Vintage 8.5ct Aquamarine, 9.0ct Blue Zircon and Diamond 18K White Gold Cocktail Ring, Circa 1970s
SKU: RO.BB.127
An 8.50-carat oval aquamarine sits bezel-set at the center, its pale, watery blue staying cool and clear even under close light, the aquamarine reads brightest in larger stones like this one, where the depth of color has real room to build. Below it, 52 round brilliant blue zircons and 8 round brilliant diamonds pack the dome's shoulders in blocks of color rather than a blended pavé, so from the side the ring reads as a checkerboard of icy blue and white instead of a gradient. Zircon's natural fire is sharp enough to hold its own next to diamond, an unusual pairing that most jewelers wouldn't risk, since it invites direct comparison. That kind of deliberate, graphic stone-mixing, favoring contrast over matching, marks this as a product of the 1970s, when jewelers pushed past monochrome settings into bolder combinations. The dome shape and wide polished shank keep the attention on the stones rather than the metalwork. The center aquamarine weighs approximately 8.5 carats, while the accent blue zircons total approximately 9.0 carats.
Excellent vintage condition, no visible wear, damage, or loose stones in photographs. Size 6.5. Weighs 15.6 grams total.
