Ribbed Knot Diamond Ring, 18K Gold, Circa 1960s

SKU: RO.DG.1

Coils of ribbed 18K gold wind and cross over each other in a loose knot form, each ridge catching light along its curve as the design turns back on itself. A single line of diamonds traces one edge of the knot, following its curve rather than sitting in a fixed setting, so the sparkle reads as integrated into the gold's movement rather than added on top. Ten round brilliant diamonds line this edge, concentrated where the design curves most dramatically. The high-dimension, sculptural knot form is characteristic of 1960s goldwork, when jewelers pushed gold into genuinely three-dimensional, sculptural shapes rather than flat surfaces. The ring has real presence and dimension on the hand without feeling heavy, its coiled form catching light from multiple angles as it moves. The diamonds total approximately 0.85 ct., G-H color and VS-2 clarity, set in 18K yellow gold, sized 8 and weighing 16 grams. Includes a custom-fitted sizing guard.
