Citrine and Black Onyx 18K Yellow Gold Earclips, Circa 1970s
SKU: EO.LH.9
Fluted panels of black onyx flank a bezel-set emerald-cut citrine on each earring, the onyx carved into deep, evenly spaced ribs that catch light in alternating bands of gloss and shadow against the smooth gold center. The citrines, 4 carats total between the pair, glow a warm honey-orange, their emerald-cut facets giving clean, rectangular flashes of light rather than scattered brilliance; a controlled, architectural sparkle that suits the earring's geometric shape. A polished gold band runs down the center of each piece, dividing the onyx into two fluted wings and anchoring the citrine at its base. The contrast of matte-glossy black onyx against warm gold and citrine is a hallmark of 1970s jewelry design, when strong color-blocking and mixed-material work were prized. At 36 grams for the pair, these have real weight and presence on the ear. Excellent condition, no visible wear.
