Carved Black Onyx 18K Yellow Gold Earrings by Wander, Circa 1970s
SKU: EO.HA.20
Fluted gold ribbons twist and cross between two carved black onyx elements, a teardrop shape at top and a fanned, shell-like form at bottom, each onyx piece carved with the same vertical fluting that runs through the gold. The gold sections aren't flat bands but sculpted, dimensional forms with their own ribbed texture, so the transition from gold to onyx reads as continuous movement rather than a hard material break. This bold, sculptural approach to combining polished gold with dense black stone was a signature of 1970s statement jewelry, built for scale and presence rather than subtlety. Signed by Wander, a recognized name in mid-century fine jewelry design. Stamped "Winc, 18K." Excellent condition; no visible chips, cracks, or damage to the onyx.
